Following the popular release of our Pulpo Beer "The Setting Sun" this spring, we are proud to introduce its new autumn sibling.

Its name is "OCT.P.A."

The name is a play on words: October, the bountiful autumn month, and Octopus (our brand Pulpo is Spanish for octopus), which both share the 'Octo' (eight) prefix. This inspired a luxurious experiment: crafting a beer with a blend of eight carefully selected hops from eight different countries.

For bittereing, we combined Columbus, Kent Golding, and Saaz for an elegant foundation. The aroma and flavor profile is a complex blend of Hallertau Blanc, Barbe Rouge, AMORA PRETA, Riwaka, and Aramis, achieving a perfect balance of floral brilliance and settled calm.

This beer also includes a special domestic hop, miraculously harvested from cones grown by members Parco Kinoshita and his wife. The seedlings were planted in a garden patch set up by our "Showa 40 Nenkai" group at our exhibition site on Ogi-jima island during the Setouchi Triennale 2025.

The malt bill, featuring UK Maris Otter and multiple crystal malts, balances the beer. It inherits the classic bitterness and richness (koku) of its predecessor, but introduces a clean sweetness that makes it incredibly drinkable. We've created a charming "younger sister" born in October, full of rich, savory (umami) autumn flavor.
